| We have taken numerous steps to keep students safe from harm.
For starters, parents and teachers greet students each morning as they enter the school. Part of the National Heritage Academies' educational culture includes a strong emphasis on universal moral values. It helps create a family-like atmosphere in which students look after each other.
All school doors, except the main entrance, are locked at all times from the inside. Visitors to the school must pass in clear view of the office staff. Visitors are required to register at the front office and are issued a name badge which must be worn in plain view. Signage directs visitors to the office. Staff, students and parent volunteers have been instructed to notify the office, should they spot anyone who is not wearing a badge.
Students are supervised at all times while outdoors. They are not permitted to leave school grounds without office approval or without their parent or guardian.
Codes are used and announced on the public address system, to alert teachers of an emergency in the building.
To ensure emergency readiness, all buildings are equipped with fire alarms and sprinklers. Key personnel get first-aid training. Regular fire and tornado drills are performed using posted evacuation routes.

School assemblies foster a sense of community among students. Discipline and respect are instilled from day one. Instances of student-to-student intimidation are extremely rare and dealt with immediately. This is an orderly and respectful environment in which pushing, shoving, hitting and foul language are not tolerated.
Great care has been taken to create a nurturing atmosphere in which safety takes center stage. The vigilance of teachers, parents and fellow students contributes to an environment that is caring and safe. We strive to keep an ever-watchful eye over our students and react quickly to any situation that threatens their well-being. |
